The StyleItaliano method is designed to mimic the three dimensional appearance of natural teeth where the chroma comes from within the dentine core and shines through the translucent enamel layer. Using the dentine and enamel opacities of 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme XTE Universal Restorative,
recipes were created following this natural aesthetic design. Because the enamel layer modifies the colour of the dentine core, its thickness has been standardized in the recipes – for 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme XTE Universal Restorative, 0.5 mm turned out to be the ideal value for anterior restorations.

The Right Composite in the Right Place
CASE 1: Custom Rings – 4 Year Anniversary

The build-up of the proximal wall was done with body shade A3 (3M™ Filtek™ Supteme XTE Universal Restorative). The exact heigh of the wall was measured with the LM Arte Posterior Misura instrument.

Cavity is filled with bulk fill material colour shade A1 (3M™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Restorative) 1,5 mm away from the margin. This thickness is measured with the other end of the Posterior Misura.

A thorough polymerization was done to ensure excellent conversion at the cavity bottom.

Final layer was laid with an A3 body shade (3M™ Filtek™ Supteme XTE Universal Restorative).
CASE 2: Stabilizing complex cases with single shade composites

Backfilling with 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable Restorative composite is done with the help of a anatomical posterior matrix once the buccal situation is ideal. 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable Restorative has syringe that creates virtually no bubbles on dispensing the composite.

Pre-finishing of the composite is extremely helpful before starting the construction of the neighbouring teeth.

Corrections can be done either with packable composite or with flowable. In our experience, small defects are more easily corrected with flowable, while bigger defects are easier to correct with packable composite.

Cervical Enamel
We believe that conservative dental procedures don’t have to compromise on aesthetics. Our goal is to teach dentists a simplified composite layering technique, using only two shades, that any dentist can carry-out, using our well researched shade recipes.

A3 Body:

Build-up of the distal wall of tooth 25. The color was an A3 body shade.

After removal of the ring and matrices, the fill-up of the cavity is done with a bulk fill material in paste. The space left for the veneering material should be 1,5 mm thick.

Construction of mesial wall of 26 with the same material (A3 body).

The veneering material was a conventional A3 body composite, modeled with successive cusp build-up technique.
