NX3 Nexus™
Dual-Cure/Light-Cure Resin Cement
NX3 Nexus™ is a permanent resin cement system with an innovative chemistry for unmatched aesthetics, adhesion and versatility. Delivery system choices include an automix syringe for dual-cure indications and a light-cure cement for multiple units where unlimited work time is needed.
The automixing dual-cure cement can be used for all indirect applications, including veneers, although NX3 Nexus™ resin cement is preferred for complex cases that demand stronger bonding and dual-cure capabilities.
StyleItaliano Clinical Indications
- High-Strength Ceramic Restorations and Zirconia Restorations
- For Long-term Aesthetic Results
- Ideal when a Dual-Cure Cement Restoration is required
- For Complex Restorations requiring strong adhesion to dentine, enamel, CAD/CAM blocks, ceramics, porcelain, resin, and metal
- Implant-Supported Restorations such as crowns and abutments on implants
- Ideal for Cementing Post and Core in endodontically treated teeth
NX3 Nexus™ Features
- Superior Bonding: Bonds to all substrates. Excellent adhesion to dentin, enamel, CAD/CAM blocks, ceramic, porcelain, resin and metal.
- Self-Etch or Total-Etch: Bonding protocol compatibility. No dual-cure activator required.
- True Color Stability: Long-term esthetics for both dual-cure and light-cure cements.

The best solution: one more overlay
Clinical case by Prof Angelo Putignano
The step-luting technique optimizes the cementation of indirect restorations using dual-cure resin cement, addressing a critical phase in restorative procedures. A 5-second light cure stabilizes the restoration while maintaining the cement in a gel-like state for easy excess removal. After a 20-second wait, a final 40-second light cure ensures complete polymerization, enhancing bond strength and marginal adaptation.
Occlusal Reduction Guide
A cross guide was created for occlusal reduction using a cylindrical diamond bur, starting in the central fossa and following the sulcus to achieve a uniform 2 mm reduction.
Surface Conditioning
The indirect restoration was conditioned with 9% hydrofluoric acid for 20 seconds, followed by 37% phosphoric acid for one minute. Silane was then applied and air-dried.
Step Curing Technique
The step curing technique enables controlled removal of excess material while still soft. The resin cement was initially light-cured for 5 seconds, allowing easy removal of marginal excess with a fine instrument LM-Fissura.
Final Result
The restoration-tooth interface was carefully polished using a brown rubber polisher to enhance both the aesthetic outcome and the properties of the resin cement.

Cementing an indirect posterior overlay with NX3 Nexus™
Clinical case by Prof Angelo Putignano
“The use of NX3 Nexus™ can significantly streamline workflows while ensuring high-quality outcomes.”
BEFORE
AFTER
Materials innovations, combined with refined techniques, have made complex procedures, such as the cementation of indirect restorations, more accessible and less time-consuming. This clinical case highlights the simplified techniques, demonstrating the potential of modern dentistry to improve everyday practice and patient outcomes.
Cementing the overlay
After checking the fit of the overlay, the indirect restoration was cemented using NX3 Nexus™. A step luting technique was employed, involving the removal of excess cement prior to polymerization.
Complete Polymerization
After removal of the excess, glycerine was applied to prevent surface oxygen inhibition, ensuring complete polymerization of the resin cement.
Finishing and Polishing
The rubber dam was removed to begin the finishing and polishing procedure of the direct and indirect restorations.
The radiological evaluation
The radiological evaluation (left before and right after) shows the fit of the indirect restoration, with the resin cement completely sealing all margins, without any presence of excess.
