The 3M flowable composite restoratives offer several advantages that make them suitable for different clinical situations.
All indications are based on the properties of the 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable Restorative (in visible areas) and 3M™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative (in non-visible areas).

3M™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable
Adapt
The high flowability of the material makes it ideal for use as a liner for the cavity; creating a thin, protective layer.
The ability of this composite resin to adapt to the cavity base are superb. The layer thickness should be as low as possible, which can be easily achieved due to the excellent flowability, without compromising physical properties.

- Virtually no bubbles or run-on
- One-step placement up to 4 mm
- Low shrinkage and low polymerization stress
In some hard to reach areas of a cavity and when using a conventional composite, this material can create a perfect adaptive interface between the two surfaces.
The flowability, in conjunction with its excellent uniform extrusion without bubbles makes this material ideal for adapting other restorative materials.
It can be used as a layer between two composite resin surfaces or between composite resin and natural tooth (ex. Class II restorations).

Undercut
Its handling allows to block-out undercuts in cavities before placement of the final restoration.
The physical properties and its flowability makes it an ideal material for restoring without bubbles in a predictible way.
The flowability facilitates an easy adaptation to the cavity walls, reducing the possibilities of internal voids or marginal flaws.
